ABOUT THE EVENT

What we’ll be talking about:

Great relationships with grandchildren are not hard, but they can be even better if you add intention and planning. If you are like us, you are looking for ideas that are high-impact, but low-stress. We’ve found a few that have worked well for us and we’re excited to share them.

Part 1: Remote Fun for far-away grandchildren

  • Watch what happens when you create hands-on fun on both sides of your remote video calls.
  • We’ll share 5 low-stress tools we have used that make it easy to connect with grandkids who are too far away to visit regularly.

Part 2: The Grandma Playdate Box

We’ll show you how to create fun at a moment’s notice. January’s theme: Snow!

Part 3: Sharing

  • Share your very best idea for something you have done to connect with your grandchildren that really works.
  • Share any website, blog, app, or book that has been a great resource for you in your grandparenting journey.

OUR HOSTS:

Lynnae Allred

Lynnae is a family play enthusiast who developed a passion for hands-on play while doing research for her first book, Piggyback Rides and Slippery Slides: How to Have Fun Raising First-Rate Children.

Lynnae’s hobbies include writing, photography, gardening, and creating relationships with all sorts of interesting people from behind the lens of her video camera. She volunteers as a videographer who assists elderly and terminally-ill clients in recording and writing their personal histories. One of her goals in life is to make a decent loaf of sourdough bread, but it’s the combination of grandmothering via play, and collecting family stories that have become her “calling.”

She is happiest when any of her eight grandchildren are nearby and she knows she has ingredients to make outer space slime in the cupboard.

Marilee Woodfield

Marilee holds an MS in Family Studies and is the author of 21 preschool education books. Whether volunteering as a religion teacher for high school-aged students, in the classroom as a kindergarten music specialist, or as an adjunct professor teaching university courses on parenting, marriage, and family, Marilee has the heart of an educator. You can come to class with her during this event.

Marilee has been drawing, illustrating, frosting, and singing since childhood and finds really joy using her creative talents to connect with her four grandchildren.

Marilee and Lynnae are co-founders of Playdatebox.com, a website dedicated to connecting grandparents and grandchildren through play.
