Unicorn Fairy Princess Party

Unicorn Fairy Princess Party

Around Grandma Nae’s house, August is a favorite month because we host four different birthdays and an assortment of wedding anniversaries. As much as we love parties around here, it’s just simpler to host one Grandma Birthday Party in the fall and another one in the spring and invite ALL of the birthday people to come and celebrate at the same time. This year, I decided some of the birthday kids were also old enough for an overnight “Grandma Camp,” so again, I simplified and combined both.

I have fond memories of a 3-day outing to my Grandma’s in the summertime. Only my sister and I were invited and Grandma used the weekend to teach us how to piece and tie quilts. We were not nearly as fond of quilting as we were of Grandma, but it’s still one of my happiest childhood memories, despite the fact that when we were playing “hotel” in the upstairs bedroom, we accidentally broke an antique sugar creamer that had been a wedding gift to my great-grandmother. It was only a pencil-holder as far as we knew. I don’t think I’d ever seen Grandma cry before, but despite her very obvious disappointment, she did not let that spoil the weekend. I still remember those three precious days quite vividly.
